The Position:
Under the overall guidance of the Deputy Representative and the direct supervision of the Humanitarian Programme Coordinator, the Humanitarian Analyst will support the implementation of UNFPA's humanitarian activities in Somalia. This includes assisting with needs assessments, response planning, and the coordination of humanitarian interventions, as well as conducting rapid assessments and supporting programme monitoring and evaluation. The Humanitarian Analyst will work closely with the Gender Based Violence (GBV), Adolescents and Youth (A&Y), Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH), Population and Development (P&D), and field offices in Puntland and Somaliland to provide humanitarian aid to those in need.
The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is the UN's sexual and reproductive health (SRH) agency. In humanitarian contexts, UNFPA is a critical player in ensuring that reproductive health services are accessible, gender-based violence (GBV) is prevented, and the rights of affected populations are protected.
How you can make a difference:
UNFPA is the lead UN agency for delivering a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe, and every young person's potential is fulfilled. UNFPA’s new strategic plan (2022-2025) on three transformative results: to end preventable maternal deaths; end unmet need for family planning, and end gender-based violence and harmful practices. In a world where fundamental human rights are at risk, we need principled and ethical staff who embody these international norms and standards and who will defend them courageously and with full conviction.
UNFPA Somalia’s Country Programme (CP) aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) and aims to improve the health and well-being of the Somali population, focusing on women and youth. The program addresses key issues in sexual and reproductive health (SRH), gender equality, and gender-based violence (GBV), with a focus on expanding SRH services, supporting GBV survivors, empowering adolescents and youth, and responding to humanitarian crises. The program works closely with Government, civil society, and other UN agencies to ensure effective service delivery, policy advocacy, and community engagement.
UNFPA is seeking candidates that transform, inspire and deliver high-impact and sustained results; we need staff who are transparent, exceptional in how they manage the resources entrusted to them and who commit to delivering excellence in programme results.
