About the Project:

The Livestock Restocking Project by Muslim Hands aims to support vulnerable families in the Togdheer Region who have been severely affected by recurring droughts and loss of livestock. Many households in this region depend on animal rearing as their primary source of food and income, and prolonged drought conditions have reduced herd sizes, weakened livelihoods, and increased food insecurity. Through this project, selected families will receive healthy livestock to help them rebuild their herds and restore their main means of survival.

The project will prioritize drought-affected households, particularly those with limited income sources, female-headed families, and households that previously relied on livestock for their livelihoods. In addition to distributing animals, the initiative will include basic guidance on animal care, feeding practices, and herd management to improve survival and productivity of the restocked animals. This support will enable families to gradually recover their economic stability while improving access to milk and other livestock products for household consumption.

By helping communities rebuild their livestock assets, the project seeks to strengthen resilience against future climate shocks and support long-term livelihood recovery in Togdheer. Ultimately, the initiative will contribute to improved food security, income generation, and sustainable pastoral livelihoods for the targeted families.
