Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly qualified Supply Chain intern.

About the job

The Supply Chain intern is responsible for the management of inventory in the warehouse, fleet, assets and supporting improvements in procurement functions.

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Monitor the warehouse, stock levels, and expiry dates of items, updating stock and bin cards as needed.
  • Release items for project teams, ensuring the pre-approval of stock release orders.
  • Maintain an effective archiving system for stock documents and upload all documents to DRC SharePoint.
  • Liaise with vendors and project teams to ensure the timely delivery of goods and services in accordance with DRC procurement policies.
  • Support the preparation and timely submission of documents for supplier payments to finance.
  • Manage daily vehicle movement for the office and ensure all rented vehicles are in good working condition.
  • Prepare monthly fleet monitoring reports and ensure the proper use of DRC log sheets for rented vehicles.
  • Verify that all DRC drivers possess valid driving licenses at all times.
  • Tag all DRC assets and GPEs, and track them to maintain an updated asset register.
  • Ensure proper tracking, maintenance, and recording of all DRC assets in Mogadishu.
  • Conduct quarterly physical verification of assets and GPEs.
  • Liaise with the Supply Chain Team Leader and IT Specialist to recommend asset disposal when necessary.
  • Liaise with the Supply Chain Team Leader and HR/Admin Team Leader to recommend GPE disposals when necessary.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Line Manager.

Experiences and Qualifications

About you

To be successful in this role we expect you to have:

  • Minimum Bachelor degree in Procurement & Supply chain Management, Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) or Any other related field.
  • Good skills MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Power point
  • Basic knowledge of procurement principles
  • Good interpersonal and team skills
  • Commitment to humanitarian principles and values
  • Commitment to and understanding of DRC’s aims, values and principles
  • Languages: Proficiency in written & spoken English and Somali

We offer

Contract length: 4 months with the possibility of extension, subject to funding.

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for employees on national contract.
