Terms of Reference for Board Governance Coordinator 

Position Overview: The Board Governance Coordinator is a part-time position responsible for facilitating effective governance practices within the Somaliland Nursing and Midwifery Association (SLNMA). Reporting directly to the Board Chair, the Coordinator supports board meetings, maintains records of board actions, and assists in preparing for key organizational events.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Meeting Coordination:
    • Set agendas for board meetings in consultation with the Board Chair and Executive Director (ED).
    • Take comprehensive minutes during board meetings and distribute them promptly to board members.
    • Follow up on action points from board meetings to ensure timely execution.
  2. Support to Executive Office:
    • Assist the Executive Office in preparing for board meetings and other key organizational events.
    • Collaborate with the ED office in reviewing policies and guidelines as directed.
  3. Records Management:
    • Maintain accurate records of all board actions, decisions, and minutes.
    • Ensure compliance with record-keeping standards and best practices.
  4. Annual General Meeting (AGM) Preparation:
    • Support the ED office in preparing for the SLNMA annual general meeting, including logistics and documentation.

Experiences and Qualifications

  • Background in nursing or midwifery, with a Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience in managing board meetings or similar responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in English and Somali languages.
  • Strong note-taking and writing skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent IT skills and utilization of online meetings platforms.
  • Understanding of the healthcare system in Somaliland and familiarity with SLNMA’s roles and mission.
