Logistic G Admin Officer

Closing date: 8th July 2025 Location: Mogadishu, Somalia Contract: 12 Months

Reports to: Area Manager

Starting Date: As soon as possible

The Role: Oxfam Somalia is looking for a Log G Admin Officer

 

JOB PURPOSE:

The Logistics Officer is responsible for overseeing and optimizing logistics operations to support the organization’s operational and strategic needs in the area. This role involves managing transportation, warehousing, inventory, and ensuring the efficient flow of goods and materials from suppliers to end-users. Working closely with the Procurement Officer, the Logistics Officer plays a key role in enhancing supply chain efficiency and reducing costs while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (Technical, Leadership, People and Resource management)

Logistics Management

  • Overseethe transportation and distribution of goods, equipment, and supplies to support field
  • operations,ensuring timely and efficient logistics 
  • Managefleet operations by coordinating vehicle schedules and driver assignments, meeting
  • transportationneeds for both staff and materials 
  • Monitorvehicle usage, fuel consumption, and maintenance schedules to maintain cost-effective, safe,
  • andreliable transportation 
  • Ensurethat all vehicles are regularly serviced and meet safety standards, maintaining an updated record
  • offleet status and 
  • Ensurecompliance with local transportation regulations and safety standards, updating policies and
  • proceduresas 

Procurement Support

  • Managelocal procurement processes in compliance with Oxfam’s policies, including supplier selection,
  • pricenegotiations, and timely delivery of 
  • Managethe procurement of goods and services for the area office, ensuring adherence to procurement
  • guidelinesand obtaining approvals as 
  • Maintainan updated database of local suppliers and service providers, including negotiated rates and
  • contracts,and establish strong relationships with key 
  • Trackand record all procurement activities, maintain accurate records of orders and inventory, and
  • reporton procurement status 

Inventory and Asset Management

  • Maintainan accurate inventory of office supplies, equipment, and assets, ensuring adequate stock levels
  • andtimely 
  • Ensurethat all office assets are labelled, registered, and tracked in accordance with asset management
  •  
  • Conductperiodic inventory audits to verify stock levels and asset condition, coordinating with relevant
  • teamsfor repairs or replacements as 
  • Ensuresafe and appropriate storage and handling of goods, especially for perishable or sensitive items,
  • adheringto best practices and regulatory 

Compliance and Reporting

  • Ensurecompliance with Oxfam’s logistics and administrative policies, providing regular updates on
  • logisticsactivities to the Area Office 
  • Prepareand submit monthly reports detailing procurement, inventory, and logistics activities, as well as
  • anynotable issues or 
  • Supportinternal audits by providing necessary documents and information related to logistics and

Team Coordination and Training

  • Coordinateclosely with the logistics team in Hargeisa, warehouse staff, and other relevant teams to
  • alignlogistics activities with organizational priorities and program 
  • Providetraining and guidance to logistics staff and relevant team members on best practices, safety
  • protocols,and logistics software 
  • Participateactively in emergency preparedness and response planning, ensuring logistics support is in
  • placefor potential crises or rapid response

  • Experience:Minimum 3-5 years of experience in logistics management, preferably within an
  • internationalor non-profit 
  • TechnicalSkills: Proficiency in logistics management software, ERP systems, and inventory
  • management Familiarity with GPS tracking and fleet management tools.
  • Strongverbal and written communication skills, with fluency in English; knowledge of additional
  • Languagesis 
  • Excellentorganizational and multitasking abilities, with a detail-oriented approach and the ability to work
  • under
  • Competencein analyzing supply chain data, inventory levels, and logistics metrics to drive informed
